hooray for gardening
My mother-in-law and I had the loveliest conversation about gardens today with many pictures texted to each other during it. I'm not saying she loves me best, I'll let you assume it.
I went into a grocery store for the first time since early March 2000. Really. I didn't shop in the store, I picked some pepper plants and a bag of dirt OUTSIDE the store, but it felt like it should be noted. I love my N95, I love my N95. The store is My Organic Market, or MOM's for short. All of their flower planters were filled with blue and yellow flowers.
My cousin-in-law, who works for the Canadian Ministry of Health, has Covid. So does her mother. Her mother is actually doing better than she is because her mother, being at risk, qualifies for the treatment. This whole go-back-to-work-x-number-of-days-per-week is stupid.
I've had a blueberry bush for at least ten years. For the first time I pruned it today. An internet article said to cut off dead branches and then prune live ones but I decided just the dead ones was good enough for a beginner.
The white wildflower with pink dashes is Claytonia aka Spring Beauty and it is in my garden design. It is sort of in my garden. I'm sure next year it will thrive and be all over.
Putin has turned against his intelligence agencies, with reports of purges within the security services. Two top level people in his foreign intelligence agency have been questioned and placed under house arrest. Last week the head of the National Guard was forced to resign and will probably face a criminal investigation. Maybe Putin is angry with the lack of popular support in Ukraine. They are also wondering why US intelligence was so amazingly accurate.
There are many cyberattacks and cyberleaks. The leaks may or may not be accurate, but it is trying to scare soldiers into realizing they could be held accountable for human rights abuses. They supposedly published the names of Russian soldiers who operated in Bucha.
Spain has shipped 200 tons of military equipment to Ukraine including 30 military trucks, 20 4x4 armored vehicles, and ammunition.
The Japanese Railways painted the train blue and yellow as a sign of solidarity with Ukrainian railways.
