The journey from hell.

We were aware that there was a long contraflow on the A84 road back to Caen and that I would have to be gentle with the Merc so set out with hours in hand.

No sooner had we started then all the electrical gremlins began to misbehave. Every warning light, all the instruments and the vehicle lights began flashing, beeping and clicking, even the seatbelt pre-tensioner tightened.

It calmed down when I switched the lights on and the first planned assessment stop was reached. A check of all the wheel hubs seemed fine so we decided to continue.

Now the alternator light came on suggesting the battery wasn't being charged but there was no choice other than to continue.

We made it to the port about 3 hours early!

Crossing was quite bumpy, the photo was the sun setting through a spray covered window.

Waiting to disembark was rather stressful, would it start? If it did how far would I get with the lights on? (We were headed straight to Brighton when the friends garage is)

Well, it made it without any further problem.

Finally got home just before 2am and fell into a proper bed, lovely!
