Fallen Giant

Last October I created a Pep Ventosa image of a large tree (which I now think is a sycamore) in its full Autumn glory in a local park. Today, on a short walk through the park for the first time since the storms last month, I see that it was badly damaged in the storms, although a closer look reveals that its central core was probably hollow. A sad loss as one of the last remaining mature plants on this site which was previously home to a nursery specialising in rhododendron and azalea (of which the main beds still remain, but are badly overgrown) and now redeveloped for housing and retail, with the obligatory open space.
