Crown Imperial
We spotted a display of these flowers on our walk through Killingworth Village this morning. Neither of us remembered seeing anything quite like them before, but Google Lens identified them within a couple of seconds as Crown Imperials (aka Fritillaria Imperialis). They're native to mountainous regions in Turkey, western Iran and eastwards to Kashmir, being grown for their large and spectacular clusters of bell-shaped flowers in late spring.
My first reaction was to be a bit silly and say that they looked like a punk flowers with their distinctive "hairstyle" - and what's more what am I doing blipping a flower on a Saturday rather than a "Flower Friday"? So I'll tag this for Silly Saturday.
