Marjorie's ramblings

The domino effect

I popped back up to Sidwood and Black Middens Bastle again today. I don't know the area well and I wanted to have a better grasp of the geography before tomorrow's lichen walk.

I also took my tripod in order to photograph the lichens again. Hand held is all very well, but I knew I could do better with the tripod. I set up. The lens would not focus, however hard I tried.

Then I realised I had picked up the 70 - 300mm instead of the 90mm close up!! That explained it. I did manage to produce some tolerably accurate images, but I did not persevere for long. I did laugh.

It was sunny and breezy. There was no one around. I went to explore part of the bastle trail we are not using tomorrow, just to see what the others had told me. It was well nigh impassable and it will take the Forestry some time to move the fallen trees. Storm Arwen has a lot to answer for.

Back here and I did some preparation for the festival. Kevin called with my packs of names, lists, instructions etc. We had a chat - nice to catch up.

I take my hat off to the committee who have had to work very hard to get this festival up and running. I do hope we have good weather.

This evening I went to Haltwhistle to meet Sarah T. We met walking a few years ago and she usually comes to a weekend of the festival.  Our walks don't coincide, so we had an enjoyable catch up at The Milecastle. I relaxed my diet for a piece of turkey, ham and chestnut pie. Delicious.

I resisted pudding!
