Rum or tea?

Bookgroup is next Saturday and part of choosing the book and hosting the drinking talking, is deciding what drink should accompany the chat.  It should obviously fit the theme of the book...I'm 65 pages in (I like to leave reading the book of the month to the last moment so that I remember it it's fresh) of 357 and so far tea and schnapps have been drunk...
Two problems, 1) if I serve tea (other than Long Island Iced) I will be kicked out of bookgroup and 2) I actually don't seem to have any schnapps... (there goes my German passport)  I do however have some Ruhrpott (the area where I live and also the area that the book is set in) rum, problem solved methinks, especially as when I had to drink the prop (hate it when that happens) and it was actually palatable.
