A Day at the Zoo

We had the last of our days off this week today and made a visit to Whipsnade Zoo. It was a beautiful day and lovely to be out and among the animals. We enjoyed a wide variety of the animals but especially the birds. Here is Akuu, an African Grey Parrot, a once common species but now under threat due to being one of the most traded species in the world for pets. The wild populations have been decimated as a result. 

We really enjoyed ourselves (more photos here) and then just as we were leaving, we had a call from our local wildlife hospital where Annie is a volunteer ambulance driver. Two baby female fox cubs needed to be collected and delivered to the centre so we took a slight diversion on the way home to pick them up and deliver them. Very sweet.
