Live it loud!

Not banking and Ken Burns

Had a cheque (remember those) to pay into the bank along with a substantial amount of cash today. So, here's a word of warning to any First Direct customers wishing to perform either of these tasks.
A few months ago, FD changed their debit cards from  Visa to Mastercard. In doing so, they created a wizard way of preventing their customers from paying into their account at a bank. HSBCs machines don't recognise these new cards but their automated services demand you use a card to identify your account.
The cheque paying in m/c eventually let me manually enter the details (which I hope I got right...).
The cash paying in m/c totally refused to let me pay in this wad of cash (long story as to why I had it).
The staff in the automated branch had some helpful advice - go to a manned branch (15 miles away - I don't think so), or, go to the Post Office (recently closed...). So, it's back to using cash for a while...

Had a discussion with FD over the phone, and asking as to why, as a bank that requires cash from it's customers, they longer provide a working paying-in service that they have since inception, their response was basically a shrug of the shoulders. That's service!
Basically complete cock-up in the project management of their card change.

So, the picture above - a frame from some 8k video - yes 8k. I've been playing with video on the R5. It is stunning.

A while ago I did some playing to create a 4k video from 8k to produce a Ken Burns crop of part of the frame while using a camera slider to have some camera movement. You see this kind of thing often in tv programs, especially documentaries and adverts.
While my first attempt was reasonably successful, there were some oddities that I couldn't explain. Some jerky movement between frames which I thought was the camera slider, and, on closer inspection, some wobble around the edges of the frame.
A bit of thought later and I decided that one or both problems were maybe being caused by the in-camera vibration suppression. So, today I tried a repeat.

This is the short video using my R5 with 24-105 lens (on wide to 50mm) on 8k video using IPB compression on a 60cm motorised camera slider to create the physical movement.
Using Final Cut Pro it was edited using a Ken Burns crop into a 4k sized crop onto the 8k video frame.
Sadly, I was relying entirely on the cameras rear monitor so some of the best content is blurred. External monitor next time.
I don't pretend that this is tv documentary quality, but, as a second attempt, I think it works. The audio is a little high and clipped in places. Stupidly, I had the microphone on a +20dB lift.
There are no titles and the intro is a fade from black, so, you may see a blank screen at the start. This is a test after all.
