Ducklings

I came across this mallard duck and what I think were eleven ducklings, it was tricky trying to count them, and they were so cute.  I wonder how many will survive.  The pond is in a park which gets lots of visitors, especially at the weekends, and also plenty of dog walkers.  Then you have other natural predators, so it may be that the ducks need so many chicks to have a chance of survival.
