Marauding thugs
Oh shit. Oh no! The cruising season is back upon us, as evidenced here by this juggernaut anchored just outside an otherwise quiet Dun Laoghaire harbour.
The tenders going back and forth between this Knackersville-on-the-Sea and the East Pier kept disgorging hordes of inebriated octogenarians all dressed in Princess Cruises jerseys, who soon took to the streets of Dun Laoghaire chanting Princess Cruises war songs while drinking copious amounts of beer and urinating in people's front gardens.
After a respite of just over two years due to covid restrictions, people in the locality had almost forgotten how much havoc the cruise crowd can wreck in this usually quiet costal town. Today was a stark reminder of how quickly things can get out of hand.
The violent scenes that took place last week in Venice are still fresh in everyone's mind, when factions of Royal Caribbean supporters started taunting Princess Cruises thugs on a vessel moored nearby. They were pelted with empty bottles of Bombay Sapphire gin and zimmer frames. Several injuries were reported on both sides.
