The permanent way

I grabbed this shot looking towards Wittersham Road from Northiam station. The level crossing gates are open and it's easy to see that the track drops on the other side of the road - that's why there is an offset.

It was rather lovely sitting at the station, reading a book, waiting for a train to arrive. Lots of birdsong and a heron flew lazily along the valley.
