Giant land snail

We have a few of these huge snails in the garden - they evidently eat smaller snails so maybe that's why I have fewer snails than usual in my garden, and I hope it stays that way.
I placed a garden snail in the photo for a comparison. Sister M and i watched this snail for a long time as it moved around ,retreating slowly into its shell. Isn't nature amazing.
Once again I left the back door open and in front of my eyes a monkey ran in and grabbed two bananas - all I saw was its tail as it hastily retreated. They are so quick, and know the layout of the kitchen. I must remember to close that door!!
