The City That Disappeared
I’m rereading this fascinating book by Frank Worsdall, an architectural historian whose lectures I attended in the 1970s. It’s a record of many of the fine old Glasgow buildings that were demolished by the city council mainly in the 60s and 70s. Worsdall was quite passionate about this destruction. The M8 driven through the centre of Glasgow caused the loss of many
of these buildings which at the time just weren’t appreciated. The book, now long out of print is also an interesting social history of the times.
