Sundowner Festival

Along with Corinthian walked from Eldwick over Shipley Glen and down to Saltaire’s Roberts Park for the Sundowner Festival. Lots of things going on and lots of stalls, but I wanted to go mainly to listen to the group Eddie Earthquake & The Tremors. Having seen them at parties in the past I knew they did a great line in 50s and 60s music and Rock n Roll.  They didn’t disappoint and played for 2 hours.  Lovely to see so many people there enjoying the sunshine - saw several of our community choir members too.  There were other musicians playing - even the “Ecky Thump” drummers - you can tell when you are in Yorkshire! :-)) After a lovely sunset the highlight at the end of the event was a huge lantern procession - my photos in extras are pretty useless and can’t do it justice.  Everyone followed the procession around the park and then down to the bottom field.  Then there were fire dancers, and light jugglers etc putting on a show to the led by the “Peace Artistes Street Band” :-)) At the end a fire flower was lit (main image). Think it was supposed to be a sunflower, so possibly a nod to Ukraine.  There was a fabulous orange moon above Salts Mill, but annoyingly neither my camera nor my phone would take a decent image.  Wonderful event and all free.  Well done to the organisers and the staff who were clearing rubbish all afternoon and evening.  As we made our way out of the park all the rubbish was bagged up awaiting collection and the portaloos had been whisked away. Will be sure to go again.
