Diary of an Edinburgher

New phone?

Hazel came over for a coffee and to see the dozens of holiday photos on the iPad. JR cancelled the gym due to lack of interest on her part. The morning was not the bright warm sunshine we’d been promised, but the afternoon came right. We had been invited round to the neighbour’s in the afternoon, but that was postponed till Tuesday, which suited us quite well. I wanted to go down and have a fondle of the new iPhone, J had an urgent need to go and browse some new shoes, and Archie needed a walk.

I need something to lure me a bit further than just round the block, so a visit to the Apple shop was ideal, though it was pretty far. We went down the ‘News Steps’ - JR and Archie had never gone that way before. I had come UP them once years ago, and kept well away from them after that.

I fondled the new phone, but I asked the assistant for an honest opinion, and she said that she would wait till the one later in the year, which is what happened last time I changed my phone (TWO years ago, FP). Trouble is, there are just incremental changes - better battery, macro lens etc, so the big change-over is really if the battery is shot, and mine isn’t. So that’s my Christmas present then…

JR did not hang around the Apple shop, having other shopping ideas. Archie and I walked back along the Gardens to get to the bus. It was SO HOT by this time, and I definitely had the wrong jacket on, so I was very stuffed by the time I made it home.

I watched a couple of episodes on iPlayer about Ghislaine Maxwell - fascinating stuff. Also started a series on OJ Simpson, after our tenuous connection on the cruise (we saw the father of the man he murdered when he also murdered his wife). I had no idea he was such a hero!

JR had a very successful shopping trip - three purchases…

There was a lot of loud drumming when we came out of the Apple shop, so we went to look, but Archie hated the noise, and just barked non-stop, so we had to leave. But not before I saw this (Extra), which begs the question: WHY???
