Low Flow at the Ford

This may not be a particularly inspiring image landscape-wise. It depicts the concrete ford that I walk across every day when I take the dogs for their walk.
The ford gives limited vehicle access to the true left bank of the Taylor River. It is used for allowing vehicles to access the car-park for the Paintball Park and also gives access to the back entrance to the Omaka Aerodrome.
For most of the year when much of the river bed is bone dry there is always a small amount of water running under the concrete slab of the ford.
You will see two culverts in the concrete slab in the far side.
Nearer to the right hand side are two more more temporary corrugated iron culverts.
The water actually runs right under the concrete slab and when pooled there it gives shelter to a great many trout during the very dry weather.
I have seen children hanging over the edge of the concrete slab with elementary fishing lines doing their best to catch the trout. Some trout are very large but very cunning.
I should really point out to the kids that they need a licence to fish for trout but I don't like to spoil their fun!
I have displayed this image to show the low flow. Just wait for the very heavy rain that is predicted in the next day or so!
The picture may change dramatically should we get that rain.
