Lots of drakes

We took the bus to Newton Poppleford this afternoon and walked the six miles along the river back home. The first half of the walk was devoid of people, a little busy around Otterton and then we headed off on a quieter route when we could. We spotted these male ducks sunning themselves and noticed there were some pairings of ducks but them seemed to be a shortage of the female variety, hence the gathering. A lovely warm day, I hoed lots of weeds in the front garden this morning. We saw lots of butterflies this afternoon but none settled long enough for a photo.
