Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 — Good Friday

Today is not considered “Good” because of its events, but because of its outcome. Until we learn to see sin as God does, it’s difficult to understand what happened at Christ’s crucifixion. Romans 3:21-26 Is where God’s Wrath and God's Love meet.

Dr. Frank Turek emphasizes, “On the original Good Friday, Jesus suffered and died not to turn us into ‘nice people’ — but ‘forgiven people.' Jesus isn’t merely a moral example like other religious leaders. Jesus is our substitute. Justice is getting what you deserve. Grace is getting what you don’t deserve," Turek explains. "The only way to avoid justice is to accept the grace Jesus provides by putting your trust in him." Turek underscores that "when we accept Jesus’ sacrifice, we are liberated from our past, present and future wrongs by making forgiveness and eternal life possible, as explained in John 3:16, which reads, 'For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.' That’s why Good Friday is truly ‘good,’" Turek said. "In fact, it’s the best news ever."

My friend Betsy puts it this way, "Jesus suffered brutality so that we will be able to stand righteous before God. If you don’t know Jesus personally, now would be the time.”
