We first met A in 2019 when she was visiting from USA. She had contacted Mr C through ancestry.co.uk as they are 2nd cousins. She grew up in the same area as Mr C and myself and lived just opposite my primary school. Through university she received a placement to study in America and that is where she stayed. She and her husband try to come back every year but, of course, this is her first visit since we last saw her. At 75 she still works as a biochemist and enjoys her work so much that she’s not ready to retire. I have to say that she looks amazing and really doesn’t look her age.
During the pandemic we kept in touch via zoom, the last one being on Sunday to arrange when and where we could meet up. They arrived in the UK on Wednesday. It was decided that they would come to us and Mr C had contacted his two uncles to invite them over to meet A for the first time.
Mr C picked them up from the station about 11ish and they stayed with us until Mr C dropped them back to the station at 8pm. It was a lovely day. They are so easy to get on with and interesting to listen to. I did an afternoon tea with sandwiches and cakes from M&S.
We grabbed a photo before they left. Unfortunately, one of Mr Cs uncles and wife left earlier in the day and we didn’t think about a photo until it was too late. From L to R you have R - A’s husband, Mr C, A and Mr Cs uncle G.
