Bone shaker
4.5 million car journeys were made today. Many rail routes were closed for engineering work. The escalating cost of fuel and train fares appeared to be little deterrent to this year’s Easter get away.
We got away as far as our local supermarket where we bought the last bag of bbq fuel. The warm sunshine and blue skies catapulted everyone into al fresco catering action. Everyone apart from those who had already flit for the coast, the city break, the staycation or the further flung sun found at the end of an airway.
BA and EasyJet were cancelling scores of flights again today. Meanwhile Jet2 and Ryanair and all the others who had not treated their staff so meanly in lockdown were on time and showing the cost cutters the perils of their ways. BA sacked so many staff that they are now trying lure them back with cash incentives.
I took a “flight” this afternoon with my 9 yr old grandson at the controls of a flight simulator. He was very good at taking off. Landings were a different story! He flew right through the south cantilever of the Forth Bridge and then crashed right outside The Hawes Inn!
As I write this we await the arrival of our youngest with his partner from London. She has not yet been here due to her Covid constraints at Christmas.
My photo, taken outside our house, shows one of our neighbours who has restored this bone shaker bicycle!
