Tree and my shadow

Last week I decided, as one does from time to time, that it was time to buy some new pyjamas. So I proceeded to the Gap website to see what they had to offer.

Thirteen years ago, while working Glasgow, I bought an amazing long, heavy dressing gown from Gap and also a really comfortable nightshirt, which nobody liked except me. I still have the dressing gown but the nightshirt, sadly, is long gone.

These days, the offerings are more conservative and I was limited to a pair of striped pyjama trousers and an oversized grey t-shirt. Having sorted out my new nightwear, I decided to have a look around to see if anything else took my fancy and I quickly settled on a splendid, hefty scarf and a hat.

Yes, a hat.

I have some hats already, including a Driza Bone waterproof one, which has come in very useful over the years, and a Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds ski hat, which is my favourite bit of tour merchandise ever. This new hat is a straw fedora, which I have purchased as a manifestation of my optimism about the summer and, more specifically, the sunshine.

I worked from home today and was lacking in opportunities to show off my new titfer but I was busting to wear it, so in the end I ventured out the back of the cottage and then 'round onto the main road. Sadly, there was no one about to impress, although I still took this photo so I didn't look like I was just taking my hat for a walk :-)
