Cobo Bay... the beautiful sea
always deceptively cold, Atlantic Ocean, from here to Canada. Doesn't put the Cobo dollies off though- a group of ladies that swim everyday through the year.
Cobo bay, pristine sand, fabulous views, wonderful rock pools. awesome sunsets. I've played on this beach all my life, it knows my secrets, my dreams, my worries and fears, I've played here with my parents, my friends, my children. I've eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here, read many books and had a snooze or two.
In winter vwry different, battled by gales and fearsome winds so strong you can hardly stand. The sea flies over the wall depositing sand, stones a. Seaweed onto the road. The sea wall has collapsed a number of times unable to withstand the force of the wild ocean. Many times I've lain snug in bed as the wind shakes the old cottage and a ship founders on the deadly off shore reefs. Cosy and dry but desperate visions of the drama playing out through the night.
'Sarnia cherie, gem if the sea, home of my childhood, my heart longs for thee. Thy voice calls me ever, forget thee I'll never, Island of beauty, Sarnia Cherie.'
