Exploring the Cromarty Firth

After a successful morning of writing, I had a couple of meetings to attend online today. They were successfully polished off by 2.30pm, or so, so we headed out to explore a couple of towns on the Cromarty Firth. We did something we don’t do that often, really, which was driving around and hopping in and out of the car a bit. We didn’t really stop much, but we explored quite a bit of the Cromarty Firth, including Invergordon and Nigg Ferry, and then went over to Balintore and saw the Mermaid of the North. On the way back, we popped in to the supermarket in Tain for some supplies.

Despite scheduled bad weather, it hasn’t been too bad. It rained quite a bit overnight, and the ground was very soggy when I headed on a very quite mini circuit this morning to get some air. But this afternoon, the skies were quite fine, as can be seen, and showed off some of the energy infrastructure in the Cromarty Firth to good effect.

As usual, I’ve added a couple of extras. One is a view of the Dornoch Firth from above, showing in the far distance on the top right Tarbat Ness where we walked on Sunday. I don’t know what those yellow towers are. Are they the towers for offshore wind farms? That’s what the Port of Nigg (where the extra was taken) is becoming best known for.
