Plaza de los Lobos

It is a pity that this beautiful Plaza de los Lobos is currently under reconstruction and cannot be appreciated in all its beauty.


   It is one of my favourite places in the city centre, full of history and memories for me. Some nice, some sad.
The old Police Station -Comisaria - was in one of those buildings and once I had to go there to visit Nicolas, my youngest brother, who had been arrested for having taken part in a demonstration against Franco, like many other students at that time. He was later sent to prison, like so many other students of the time, and was not released until Franco died. It is a long and sad story.

But  I also have other memories of good things that happened in this Plaza.
The name Plaza de los Lobos -Plaza de los Lobos- has nothing to do with the presence of the police station. Legend has it that it is an old name from the time when wolves used to come to the centre of the city in search of food.
