Smoke

Being inspired by Mr H on Sunday, and wrongly thinking that his blip was a macro/micro shot of the end of an incense stick (silly me), I thought that I would attempt what I thought it was.

No chance - the heat at the tip is so hot that the smoke is transparent at that point.  So I settled for variations on the smoke scenario  and finally wound up with a couple that weren’t total right-offs.

The lines in the smoke were (are) intriguing. It took me a while to cotton on that as I was illuminating the smoke from below with a Cree led torch, and led lights flicker VERY fast giving a strobe effect on parts of the smoke.  For those interested it was 1/60th second at ISO-25,600, and a 12mm extension tube..  A little bit grainy, but I think that does add something to it - looks better in large with the dark background.

Many thanks to Sheol for hosting Tiny Tuesday this month.

ps   Now I've published I notice if I had tried my first idea with a stack of ash on the stick I may have achieved what I started out to do - another day perhaps . . .
