Happy Birthday

This fine creature appeared to wish Arnie happy birthday as we were trying to figure out why we were without electricity.

It turned out that the storm the night before had brought down the main power cable to all the farms in the area.

We still had gas to cook with, and of course the braai, so we were able to still have the breakfast we planned, and the lunch too.

We then had to make a decision as to whether we stay after the other three left and hope that the power, which then meant water (as it needs to be pumped) and of course it then being heated.

We chose to move on and glad that we did. The drive out was a nightmare, even with a 4x4, the water and mud was above our wheels in places.

Our stop for the night was just outside Bela Bela (or Warmbaths in old money). It was just what we needed, mud free, warm, dry, and a TV showing the final round of the Masters.

Arnies’s main gifts being tickets to the test between the Boks and the All Blacks in August, and tickets and accommodation for two days of the rugby World Cup 7’s in Cape Town in September were a huge surprise that had him smiling from ear to ear.

We watched the golf along with a gifted bottle of stunning bubbles that finished off the day perfectly.
