Great Day for Cycling, Paddling, and Pizza

Up early this Sunny Sunday morning and cycled west out of the walled city of Lucca, riding along the Serchio River. Main photo: view of the mountain notch we will ride over to reach Lake Massaciuccoli. We left the riverbanks and rode through Castello di Nozzano, with the clock tower and defense turret above town (extras). Then up the mountain through Balbano. Many cyclists along this route. Before the steep ascent of return trip we reward ourselves with a leisurely paddle in the nature reserve and pizza!
