Flower Friday ...
... collage.
After running some errands in the morning I took some time later on to enjoy the beautiful weather. We had sunshine for the most part but it wasn't really warm.
The blue jay pictured here looks like the same one from Wednesday ... but much cleaner today! I think all that rain from yesterday helped him/her clean off the caked on mud ... for which I'm glad. All that mud couldn't have been comfortable.
Our neighbor's crabapple tree (upper right) is in full bloom ... isn't it lovely. Thanks to BikerBear (Anni) for hosting Flower Friday each week.
Before dinner we went over to Housenick Park for a quick walk. And saw several things of interest! The first ... and first time ever at this park ... was seeing goats! Now ... pets of any kind are not allowed at this park so we were very surprised to see these goats! Crazy!
We also saw a lovely butterfly ... which is a mourning cloak (bottom right). I didn't really know much about these butterflies so I Googled them. Seeing this one so early in the Spring made me think that the pupa stage (chrysalis) of this butterfly would over winter and then emerge now ... similar to the Swallowtails. But that isn't the case. The adult butterflies actually hibernate during the winter! They often emerge from hibernation before the snow has completely melted, making it one of the first butterflies to take wing in the spring. Fascinating!
