Another first

Spent a couple of hours at the allotment, digging, weeding, feeding.... The results of the Big Garden bird survey came out - apparently the most numerous species observed was.....the house sparrow. I am totally unsurprised.

Just as I was about to leave I noticed that the fritillary was not only up, but out! I'd spotted one last week in the garden of Lamb's House, but the allotment is just a wee bit chillier I guess. Of course, the camera has focussed on the surrounding grass rather than the flower. Tant pis.
