Woody Bay.
Today we chose to visit Woody Bay. Emily was keen to do a bit of wild swimming ( mad) and had heard of a secret bathing pool .
Super long , downhill trek , but got to the beach at noon. Only we didn't see a beach only massive boulders.
Beadlet anemone - is the name of the fab sea blob we found.
We decided that it couldn't possibly be the right place so headed off , on what turned out to be a two and a half hour trek.
We ended up on top of cliffs, looking down at the sea. Well the hidden bathing pool was well n truly hidden.
Hot, achy and tired we almost gave up, kids were all for it but Emily and I kept saying , "we're here, it can't be far". We decided to look in the pics that other people had posted online for clues. A white house could be seen.
We eventually found it! Guess what ? we were in the right spot, when we arrived at noon. It's just that the tide was in so it was hidden!. Tide out to reveal this beautiful hidden gem. The kids stripped off. I stayed fully clothed ( I'm not daft)
I was brave enough to dip toes in . I cant even describe how cold it was. It was mind numbingly painful. Rio jumped in, screamed and panicked. I had to get him to focus and swim back to me.
Emily was determined to get in so sat gently easing herself in, bit by bit, until she was numb. I got some pics. Vienna got her feet in and that was all.
Emily cut her toe but didn't realise until we were home. One sore, black bruised toe. We had a steak tea and was super glad to get to bed.
