Cable...
…………………………Bay, Nelson
After visiting the Hira cemetery and St Johns Church, part of a heritage event being held during Tuku 22 Whakatu Heritage months we drove to nearby Cable Bay.
New Zealand’s first overseas cable link opened at Cable Bay on the 21st February 1876!
We climbed a short distance beyond the first lookout on the walkway across farmland that runs between this bay and Glenduan.
Turning, this is the view. The landmass at the end of the causeway is a privately owned and farmed island known as Pepin Island. To the right the tidal estuary is Delaware Bay.
Thank you for the visits, comments and stars for yesterday’s blue photo - these colours of sea and sky on a sunny day and a common sight and one we tend to take for granted.
