Loch Garten

Packed up this morning after a last walk round the locks and railway crossings at Clachnaharry. Down the A9 but instead of hammering straight home we turned off to Loch Garten. We had a lovely walk in Abernethy Forest. This is the largest remaining part of the ancient Caledonian Pine Forest which covered Scotland after the last ice age. I've added an extra but honestly I can't convey the grandeur in photographs or words. Instead I've chosen the main which I also really like.

I'm blipping from a very nice cafe in Nethy Bridge. We're debating whether to go home via Tomintoul or just go back to the A9. It's early enough in the day so I think we'll go the scenic route.

We've had a great time. It's been a very good break.
