Presentation prep
Today is the last day of term at Edinburgh Napier University. All the students on the Group Project module are now finishing off their practical work in favour of planning presentations as part of their assessment. Amongst them are our P2P project student team members David, James, Andras, Michael, and Alex. This screenshot is provided by David, as is the text below:
'As our (the student team's) time with Lorna, and the practical work on the project, approach a close*, we are preparing a presentation on our work.
'This presentation will be to Bruce, Hazel, Iain, our student peers, and others associated with the Group Project module for which we have created the podcast series. The presentation will cover our work from a mainly technical standpoint. Therefore, the content will mainly be built around much of the work already presented in this Blipfoto journal. So, in a way, blippers have already had a sneak peek at our presentation! Today's blip shows several of the draft slides that I have put together using pictures from this journal (LornaLPodcast), and from the LornaL journal.
'Often with presentations there is a real risk of disconnect if you are overly technical. To negate this, I have tried to be original with slide headings and images. The main slide in the blipped image draws on the idea of the home front in the war, and makes reference to the proofing work that James did mostly from home.
'This example might not make it to the final version, but techniques like this will definitely aid with the presentation flow!'
*Of course, there is still quite a lot of work for the academic staff to complete for the project. In fact, Bruce, Hazel and Iain are not even half way through their work. They still have to organise the final details of the podcast series launch in Malvern on Tuesday 24th May and then host the event; they have two phases of empirical work to complete, including recruitment (they need some blippers to volunteer to participate in this - please see yesterday's post), data collection, data analysis, and write up; they have a project report to write; they have (so far) two presentations of their own to prepare for (a) the P2P project funders and (b) a conference in September; and they will need to write at least one academic paper on the findings from the whole project.
