Narcissus in the rain
The day started with a knock on the door from my neighbour J to let us know that her husband P had died in the night. He'd been ill for some time, but his final decline was short-lived and his passing was peaceful, in his own home, with J and his son beside him. I found a card and flowers at Waitrose, and CJ cooked lemon cupcakes, so we took these round later in the morning and had a lovely chat with them. Alex and CJ went round in the evening for drinks with J and her two children (who have supported their parents so well over the last few years) and we've invited them over for drinks on Sunday when we're having a celebratory meal for Pete's birthday. Life goes on...
I'd been planning to go to Old Sulehay in the afternoon, but at lunchtime the wind became strong and we had a heavy shower, so I spent the afternoon at the computer, preparing for a meeting tomorrow, and chatting to one of our clients about a survey we did last summer. Before I knew it, it was nearly half-past six, and I hadn't even picked up my camera. I dashed into the garden and grabbed a quick shot of these lovely narcissi (Pink Charm I think) in the rain!
Dinner was a bit of a trial as I realised I hadn't bought a couple of ingredients, but Pete and I improvised and ended up producing a very tasty if slightly inauthentic Jackfruit Rendang.
