watching dry paint

birds on a wire, again

went to bed last night with the sound of rain on the roof, and a strange scrabbling  sound at the window. Turns out the rain had triggered a 'flock' of giant moths. All swarming against the light sources at the back door. Maybe Bogong moths. I realised I'd seen some earlier in the car headlights along with the rain. I'm sure I saw bats swooping to catch them too.
In the morning, I only found one dead one on the back porch.
I think the rain had also blocked some of the town's plumbing, for our septic tank was suddenly overflowing, with water backing up from down the line. A problem for the council and SA Water. Resolved later this evening. Phew! and pee-ew!
