Dress complete
I finally finished making my dress today. The fabric wasn't the easiest to work with but I love it so was determined to persevere. I chose to make a loose pull on dress, using a pattern taken from an existing more winter dress. It will be a lovely cool summer dress, if we get the weather to wear it! I then cut out and started to make up some cotton trousers. I've never had the greatest success making trousers, difficult to get the fit just right. Hopefully these will turn out ok and I can wear them on my travels down south next month.
I needed a distraction today as my brother's ashes were being laid and I couldn't attend. It would also have been his birthday. I wanted to do something that would make me happy as I knew he would not want us all to be sad, but to be getting on and enjoying our lives. I was sent some photos which was lovely. I spoke to mum after who had spent the day with his wife and the grandchildren. They went out for a meal at lunch time and mum said she was pleased that she'd gone, although she had been in two minds. I'm pleased she went and knows exactly where he's resting. We will go and lay flowers when I visit next month.
Life is never easy or straightforward but I think we should be grateful for all the good times, happy memories and make the most of what we are blessed with, never forgetting there are so many that are far worse off than ourselves.
Be your best self and live every minute; I try!
