Braiding Sweetgrass
Our (zoom) Bookclub book today. Read it (well, a lot of it) for the 2nd time. The first time was soon after then pandemic started when all seemed chaotic and to sit with a chapter of this kind of wisdom written by a poet scientist, had a calming effect. Love the piece of Sweetgrass that our “leader” this month sent us all… it does small fresh…
I’m afraid these lessons from this American indigenous culture of our relationship to the plants and animals on the earth is pretty much ignored, but the reading of this braided blend of science, spirit and story makes me think how perfect the relationship between people and the land could be. But not in this modern world. People will fight for what they know and care about and there are too many who don’t have a lot of “nature” in their lives.. (this was the direction of our discussion)
Look it up if you want to read more about it…I recommend this heartily. I’ve had a busy day and can’t “talk” anymore.
We did manage to get our 4th covid shot. ( easy… walk in clinic at UW after a good cardio appointment there).
