Romans were here.

We drove up the Roman wall this morning to visit my favourite site, Vindolanda. We haven’t been in very many years and in the intervening period the dig has expanded enormously and so has the museum which has a fabulous range of finds. I was pleased to have my struggling heart get me back up the hill from the museum to the fort and the Roman town. I had wondered about the wisdom of the journey on the way down to the cafe and museum.
Later a quick drink at the Kings Arms in Seaton Sluice on the coast (the last time we did that was the weekend before our wedding in June 1975) and a potter round Tynemouth Priory just before it closed.
A grand day out.
