Soft lens

Evie, when I use a manual lens, sometimes the focal length of my lens is correct and sometimes it is just the last setting I had in my camera. This is the soft lens.

I woke up crazy early this morning and it was great because I finally got a run in. 

Tonight, before it got too dark, I finished planting my Irish moss. So many worms. Very good sign. I began planting the Mitchell Repens. Those are a pain to plant. They are long strands of roots but there are often leaves all along the strand and I don't want to bury the leaves. 

Lions Mane isn't .... I don't recommend it for omelettes. It was fine, it was edible, but I am now used to good. It was better in pasta with pesto. I bet it would be even better with alfredo. 

President Zelensky was on the Grammys. I checked the news story date to make sure it wasn't an April Fool's joke. It was a pre-taped message. A Ukrainian instrument called the bandura was once targeted by Soviet authorities to repress Ukrainian folk traditions. Now it is a resistance symbol. A Ukrainian singer performed with two other Ukrainian artists and John Legend and dedicated the performance to her sister and others serving in the Ukrainian military. There was also a call to donate. 

Ukraine's military released video of a Russian jet they downed. 

In 2014 a group of young Ukrainians got together to resist Russia's invasion of Crimea and the Donbas region. It was founded by an investment banker. It became an elite unit and integrated into the rest of the military. They use drones and drive all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or, as called there, "quad bikes." Sound like adventurous fun? It is a unit of about 30 people. They fly up to 300 missions a day and carry out night ambushes. They ride the ATVs at night in the woods. Their drones have thermal imaging and some can drop little bombs. They destroy vehicles at the front of a convoy and then the rest of the convoy is stuck. It relied on crowdfunding! Folks from around Europe have been donating drone parts and 3D printers to help build and repair devices. They use Elon Musk's Starlink satellite system. 

You remember the good-looking black dog the Ukrainian soldiers found? The dog is named Bavaria and is now living with a woman who volunteers with the Ukrainian military. She always wanted a big black dog. Everyone is happy except her cat.
