Follow the ball
I'm not a huge fan of golf. I don't quite go along with a good walk wasted - I don't even think it'd be a good walk - who wants to walk 300-500 yards to a hole in the ground? The coverage on tv, especially on HD is rather good though and the play on the greens is particularly captivating. Whacking the ball a couple of hundred yards is I suppose impressive, not so much the tv camera follow of a white ball on grey sky background. 'Follow the ball' is clearly the director's call to camera, and we rarely lose sight as the ball is whacked (I used that technical golf term again) into Georgian skies.
For all that, I can though appreciate the sporting aspect, and I'm a fan of top-class international sport, the psychology and the individual challenge. The Masters fits the bill. I'm not up on the stats and career details of the likes of a Brandt Snedeker, but given half the chance, I'll watch the closing stages. Football's my game, but sport at the highest level and you'll find me in front of a screen, following the ball.
