Great day. Although we had breakfast with snow showers outside by the time we were ready to go it was sunny and stayed that way all day. We headed to West Runton beach and had a great walk along by the cliffs (embedded with lines of flint a bit like skulls in catacombs) and back closer to the water’s edge as the tide went out, exposing large stretches of sand, Heston was having the time of his life, dashing around after his ball, racing ahead and looping back to us, so he must have run several times more miles than our two and a half. We headed back to the car park via a funny little shop/museum showing bits of the fossil mammoth that was found intact on the beach in the 1950s,
We drove to Holt and had a good wander around, browsing in the shops (although not buying anything) and sitting in the tea garden having some delicious warm scones with jam and cream and a big pot of tea (extra).
Home for a bit of chill time. I wrestled my way through the international festival programme and bought a load of tickets for various concerts and opera and theatre….a few obvious ones to pick but also some guesswork! Nice to pick any days and times knowing my diary will be empty otherwise!
We walked down to the local pub, the Wiveton Bell, for supper. It was delicious…cheese soufflé, baked cod and honey parfait for me and we drank local gin and chatted about all sorts, including having the Max/Lewis contentious F1 result explained and estimating the size of the room in number of K’s lunges or T’s body lengths (you had to be there!)
On the way home we marvelled at the stars in the very dark sky and then played a game of scrabble before bed. Perfect!
