Bee fly (B0mbylius major)
Every year I have this kind of agreement with myself that the first day I see Bee flies in my garden is in my opinion the first day of spring!
Well..according to my thinking TODAY IS THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING ! yipee!!
This bee fly, so called because of the resemblance to a bumble bee had recently hatched and was sitting quietly getting ready to fly off and feed from the flowers in my garden using his long proboscis.
It reached the dizzying temp of 20 degrees today and a quick trip to the woods showed numerous new species not seen 2 days ago.
All we need now is for this to be sustained and I will be one happy bunny.
