Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 Friday — A Ramp

We were back in the city of San Luis Obispo this morning for another treatment on my right thumb (the nerve was injured during surgery last July). The "laser" doctor has now ended the laser treatments and is using a new machine that uses electrical shock.

After my medical appointment, we had several stops and those took us to several locations in SLO. On our way to the Target department store, I asked Mr. Fun if he would stop at the office for the model homes we were driving past. I'm not at all interested in buying a new home, but I am often interested in looking at what's being built and what the local price tags look like.

As he parked the car, Mr. Fun said, "Look at the ramp!" And I did and I captured this photo as well. This ramp is completely freestanding, not attached to the building. We have become interested in ramps because one contractor suggested to us that a ramp could possibly be the solution to access the top of the upslope hill in our backyard (it could stretch from the north side of the backyard to the south side with a gradual climb; there we would step off the ramp, to where our hill then begins its own gradual climb, we would do a switchback toward the north and on to the top of the slope — that probably doesn’t make any sense).

We had been considering a switchback path with a retaining wall when the idea of a ramp was mentioned. It's just an idea and we are just playing around with it. One thing we know for certain is that we do not want to climb stairs to get to the upper ground in our backyard. We have enough stairs at this house.

So that's the reason for this photo and our current interest in ramps. Mostly it is just fun to brainstorm and wonder.

Good night from
California's Central Coast,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
