Fagradalsfjall volcano

It erupted on March 19 2021 and was active for several months. Today we hiked up to the lava fields and then high onto the ridge following the path of the lava from the source - it was a steep climb but phenomenal to see. Steam was rising from the ground and the yellow sulfur deposits were evident. Only a few of us made it to the very end. 

Had a wonderful late lunch at Papas in Grindavik the freshest cod I've ever tasted - fish and chips Friday 

Then back to the hotel for high tea followed by the ritual (bit of a faff) and then a dip in the lagoon. Was hoping to see the Northern lights but poor cloud coverage again. We took an evening trip out to see the Reykjanes lighthouse at Valhnukur and nesting birds- precarious ground fast eroding. Made me laugh to see the keyboards still in place for Volcano Man along with a giant Auk!
