Onion sets

I co-led a volunteering session at Oxford City Farm this morning and they've been given so many onion sets that they were begging participants to take some home. 

As my onion seedlings don't look promising this year and I didn't have enough to fill the bed, I took a bag and planted the sets in groups of 3. I've never tried that before but apparently you get a bigger crop and can just split the onions when harvesting them.

It'll be interesting to compare the growth of the seedlings with the sets. The seedlings are already doing better now they're in a manured bed with a lot of space to grow.
