Inspired in Cookham

Our first weekend away in two years. It’s very cold, we saw snow flurries, we haven’t gone very far, but it’s all good. We had lunch in a tearoom in Cookham and then visited the Stanley Spencer Gallery, where there is an exhibition of his landscapes and still lifes. He was a marvellous and original artist, and I enjoyed discovering paintings I hadn’t seen before. Then we strolled over to Cookham lock and along the Thames, with that feeling that you can get after an inspiring exhibition, of seeing painting subjects everywhere.
