Mr W. Rees Jeffreys
Spent the day working from home, but then headed into central London to the Royal Academy of Engineering to attend the announcement of the winners of a Rees Jeffreys Road Fund competition.
I was put in touch with the RJRF a couple of weeks ago by a friend from the Civil Engineering Contractors Association who knew of my Wikipedia interests. The Fund felt that its founder, Mr William Rees Jeffreys was sufficiently notable that it warranted a Wikipedia article about him. After a phone call and a bit of research, I duly obliged (and also produced a linked article about the Roads Improvement Association). Some of the sourcing for the articles came from a crowd-funded book by Carlton Reid - "Roads Were Not Built For Cars" - that I supported in 2014.
Two organisations were jointly awarded moneys by the Fund, each walking away with £75,000 to fund road improvement initiatives.
