Squeezed in

This derelict old cottage is so tiny that it looks odd between the bigger houses either side, and makes me wonder about its origins. Were all the houses in this lane the same at one time and this one stubbornly remained when its neighbours made way for newer builds? Or was it always one of a kind?

Seen on a brief lunchtime walk in a day tight and tense with work stuff. Too tired for browsing but managed to tag this, thanks for the challenge :)
