Stopped off at Prestongrange Museum to wire in some pictures and saw this.

His name is John Yeoman and he lived in a row of cottages over the wall from the pit at Prestongrange.

The houses are long gone but this image is printed on a glass plate to orientate the visitor.

I prefer to orientate myself and found the view in the opposite direction towards the trees more to my liking.

It's a curious blend of the present and past, part opaque part transparent.
