Living by Numbers
Heard a report on the news about energy company websites crashing due to the number of people submitting meter readings before prices go up tomorrow, when the Ofgen price cap is increased due to rising gas and electric costs.
Thought I would add to the problem by submitting my own readings - it’s bad enough them putting up my monthly direct debit from £100 to £200, without letting them charge me an inflated price for any units used up until today.
As it happened, it just needed a bit of perseverance to get onto the EDF website. I kept getting error messages throughout the log in and meter reading submission process, but each time I pressed “refresh” the page did move on and eventually I got the message that the readings had been accepted.
And from tomorrow onwards I’m turning off the central heating and woe betide anyone in the house who leaves a light on. If the cost is doubling then usage must be halved in order to maintain the status quo…
